Andrés Herrera was elected to serve as a member of the Oxnard City Council in 2002, following four years of service as a Councilmember previously, from 1992-1996. Mr. Herrera was elected to serve as Mayor Pro Tem from 2004-2006.
Mr. Herrera represents the City on several Boards, Commissions, and Committees, including:
- City Wide Enhancement Program
- Downtown Improvement Task Force
- Fiscal Policy Task Force
- Graffiti Task Force
- Ormond Beach Property Oversight Committee
- Oxnard Airport Authority
- Oxnard Convention and Visitor’s Bureau
- Oxnard Plain/RiverPark Reclamation and Recharge Joint Power Authority
- Performing Arts and Convention Corporation
- Transportation Policy Committee
Mr. Herrera serves as liaison to:
- Intercity Transit subcommittee of the Ventura County Transportation Commission
- Joint Oxnard/Ventura Cooperative Committee
- Las Cortes, Inc. Housing Authority
- Point Mugu Regional Airport Authority
- Regional Defense Partnership for the 21st Century
- Ventura County Regional Energy Alliance
Herrera is an active participant in the community, having served as an officer in the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Ventura County and been keynote speaker at California Lutheran University on the topic of “Nurturing a Civil Community.”
An Oxnard native, Herrera resides in Oxnard with his wife, Priscilla. He operates a Business Management and Training Company locally.
